FOR I AM NOT ASHAMED of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--the Jew first and also the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16, New Living Translation) The reality is there are many things in my life for which I bear both guilt and shame, and I dare say that is true about all of us. For as the Word of God reminds us, For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23 NLT)

Yet, here again the Good News is that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ brings to all who have placed their lives into His gracious hands, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 6:23, NLT) and the Apostle John writes to the followers of Jesus,

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. (1 John 3:1-3, NLT)

Now, if by placing your faith and trust and life in the hands of the risen Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, you discover that your sins and their guilt have been dealt with and if you discover that Jesus bore your shame and that you are now brought into an eternal loving relationship with the God who created and is sovereign over all things, of what are you ashamed?

On this Resurrection Sunday, we not only celebrate the reality of the risen Savior Jesus Christ, but we also celebrate the glorious truth that we can be called the beloved children of God; forgiven and shame free!
